Here’s a look at 2019’s top ten female wrestlers across the world as voted on by our staff.
Winner: Becky Lynch
For the second consecutive year, “The Man” has come around to collect the hardware. Lynch joins 2015 and 2016 winner, Sasha Banks, as the only female to hold this prestigious honor more than once.
It’s difficult to think of any performer who put together a better resume than Becks during the calendar year of 2019. The Royal Rumble victor made the most of her championship opportunity by walking out of WrestleMania 35 with both titles; she remains RAW Women’s Championship still, adding to her record for the longest single reign with the strap each passing day. Becky isn’t just the face of the women’s division, she’s the face of the biggest wrestling company in the world today. And with the right match up, there’s no reason for her not to headline WrestleMania once again this year in Tampa.
Runner Up: Io Shirai
It was another strong year for Shirai, who completed her first full calendar year as a member of the NXT roster. Her heel prowess was on full display after making that dramatic turn on Candice LeRae midway through the year. And while she finds herself surrounded by arguably one of the most talented divisions in the world, her skillset manages to stand out above the rest.
