Charlotte Flair becomes 8-time Women’s Champion ahead of WrestleMania 35

Charlotte Flair became a 8x women’s champion at Smackdown Live tonight inside of the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Flair was able to submit now former Smackdown Women’s Champion, Asuka, via her patented figure eight leg-lock to begin her third reign with the blue brand strap (a new record) and eight women’s title reign overall (another record).
So, what does this mean for Asuka?
A fatal 4-way between Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Naomi and Carmella to decide a challenger for Asuka was originally scheduled for tonight’s episode of Smackdown — but as a wise man tends to often say — plans change.
Reno’s Take: WWE is looking to pull out all the stops for the first ever Women’s WrestleMania main event. The visual of Becky Lynch holding up two titles to close out the show is one that, not unlike Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30, will forever be embedded in the minds of fans until the end of time. Much like her fellow Irish “Man,” expect Lynch to join the UFC’s Conor McGregor as a double-champ on April 7th.
