Five Matches I Want To See Post-Superstar Shakeup

Published

on

The annual Wrestlemania call ups are done. The Superstar Shakeup is over. Now that the dust has settled, here are five matches I want to see with the new rosters.

5: The IIconics vs. Asuka & Charlotte (The Royalty?)

In NXT, The Iconics were frequent victims of Asuka’s undefeated streak. Now on the main roster, they’re being booked very strong and with no more streak to protect, this match could easily be a show stopper. The Iconics crush it on the mic and are strong in the ring as well. No one can question the in-ring prowess of Charlotte and Asuka. Put these four together and just watch the fireworks.

4: Samoa Joe vs AJ Styles

WWE acknowledged that TNA/Impact actually exists by name for the first time ever a few weeks ago. If we’re super honest about this, the main event scene with WWE has a fair amount of what has been the main event scene in Impact for the last decade. Eric Young will be on the main roster soon enough with Sanity.

I’m in no hurry for the end of AJ vs Shinsuke but right behind Shinsuke should be Joe and those matches should tear the house down as well.

3: Andrade “Cien” Almas vs Jeff Hardy

Ok, I admit this one is a little out of the blue and a weird pairing. I was tempted to say Almas vs anyone but that’s a cop-out. I think the styles between these two would make for a very cool match. There’s no end to the personality that would come out in this match especially with Zelina Vega on the apron.

2: The Miz vs Daniel Bryan

What? Why isn’t this number 1?

Simple: this match will happen. I don’t have to wonder if or try and sell you on the idea. As long as Bryan stays healthy (please, oh please), Bryan will get to punch and kick the Miz in the face like he’s wanted to do for 3 years. Like we’ve all wanted to have happen for 3 years.

This match will be fire. Daniel Bryan is incredible. The Miz is underrated in the ring and is the perfect foil to Daniel Bryan. So what makes number 1?

1: Breezango vs The Deleters of Worlds (Woken Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt)

I admit this couldn’t have made the list if not for the couple of weeks used to establish the Deleters of Worlds but talk about character.

Woken Bray is the best Bray Wyatt has been since he had a family. Woken Matt is the best pure character WWE has had in a long, long time (Undertaker excluded). The two together make a pair that I will watch every segment, twitter video, YouTube video, that they put out together. It is WONDERFUL.

Breezango is my favorite tag team to never really get much of a shot. I’ve followed Tyler Breeze since NXT. The main event at the first NXT show I went to was Tyler Breeze vs Finn Balor vs Kevin Owens (champ) for the NXT championship. If that doesn’t tell you the level of talent that Tyler Breeze carries to be in the ring with those two guys, nothing will.

Fandango is no slouch either. He’s been hampered more by his gimmick than his talent. Jericho wouldn’t have agreed to put him over at Wrestlemania if he wasn’t worth the time. Putting these two together is a thing I heard and thought about for a long time as they both floundered and the Fashion Police (much better name than Breezango in my opinion) is the best and most underutilized bit of character WWE has right now.

Can you imagine the Fashion Files trying to investigate Woken Matt and Bray? Or Woken Matt and Bray defending their fashion, saying they’re wearing the time-honored garments from whatever vessels they’ve inhabited through the years?

This needs to happen. The only thing that could let this feud down is the writing because these four guys have every tool to make this the best thing in WWE this year.

Alex Mihailoff is a WWE fan who loves a good storyline and overanalyzing the WWE. He doesn’t know everything but will readily give his opinion on anything.
