Bill Goldberg will enter the WWE Hall of Fame on Friday, April 6th in New Orleans.

The former WCW and WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Universal Champion was announced as the first inductee for this year’s class earlier today in a report from ESPN.

After over a decade away from the ring, Goldberg returned to wrestle Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016 in a rematch of their 2004 contest at WrestleMania XX; Goldberg’s previous final match. Goldberg would go over huge with the fans as a babyface and would come back to enter the Royal Rumble (he’d be eliminated by The Undertaker), defeat Kevin Owens for the Universal Title at the FastLane PPV the following March and lose the title to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 in one of the most exciting matches of the year. He’d announce his retirement the following day on RAW after what turned out to be a very successful four match stint with the company.

Goldberg will serve as the headliner for this year’s Hall of Fame Class; expect more names to be announced in the coming weeks. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Smoothie King Center with tickets set to go on sale on January 19th at 10 am ET.
