Impact Wrestling ‘Crossroads’ event recap & highlights

Impact Wrestling Presents: Crossroads!

Match #1: LAX (c) defeat Cult Of Lee (Trevor Lee and Caleb Konley) to retain the Impact Tag Team Championships

This was a good match. Cult Of Lee earned a title shot after defeating LAX in a non-title match a couple of weeks ago. This match quickly started out in a brawl. After weeks of arrogant tactics displayed by Cult Of Lee, LAX held nothing back on the challengers. LAX wins after hitting Konley with the Street Sweeper.

McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with Lashley. Lashley has OVE tonight on his own after Eddie Edwards suffered an eye injury due to a baseball bat being swung at him by Sami Callihan. Lashley says he’s going to prove why he’s called the Walking Armageddon and take OVE down himself.

Match #2: Matt Sydal (c) defeats Taji Ishimori (c) to win the X-Division Championship and to retain his Impact Grand Championship

This was a really good match. Matt Sydal wanted to continue to prove that he’s not a choke artist but adding another championship to his collection. These two delivered here. Sydal puts Ishimori away with a Shooting Star Press and becomes double Champion.

Allie is backstage and is asked if she’s ready for her match tonight against Laurel Van Ness for the Knockouts Championship.

Match #3: Allie defeats Laurel Van Ness (c) to win the Knockouts Championship

This was a really good match. Allie has been chasing the Knockouts Championship for a long time now and Laurel Van Ness has been the main person that’s gotten in her way of reaching her goal. These two put on a clinic. Van Ness thought she had a count out victory after hitting Allie with a Unprettier on the outside but Allie found the strength to get back into the ring before the count reached 10. Allie eventually would again the momentum when she connects with a Death Valley Driver followed up by a Super Kick to Laurel Van Ness and becomes the new Knockouts Champion.

Gail Kim is waiting backstage to congratulate Allie.

Austin Aries is backstage with McKenzie Mitchell talking about his defense against Johnny Impact. Aries says he’s walking out the champ and is going to carry the company to places it’s never been before.

Match #4: Lashley and Brian Cage defeat OVE

This was a good match. This match was originally scheduled to be Lashley and Eddie Edwards vs OVE but with what happened last week Lashley decided to go into this alone. Lashley held his own against OVE but then Brian Cage injects himself into the match and tags him self in. Cage finishes OVE off after hitting Jake Crist with a Drill Claw to get the win.

Johnny Impact is backstage with McKenzie Mitchell. Impact says he’s leaving tonight with the only thing he came to Impact for – the Impact Global Championship.

Match #5: Austin Aries (c) defeats Johnny Impact to retain the Impact Global Championship

This was a good match. Austin Aries won the Championship on his first night back and has successfully defended it all over the world. Johnny Impact has come close many times to winning the championship but has failed every time. Impact was looking to finally win what he came to Impact for and gave Aries everything he had. Impact comes up short after Aries connects with a Brain Buster to Impact for the 3 count. After the match, Alberto El Patron is on the ramp signaling to Aries that he wants a shot.
