Impact Wrestling Recap (5.3.18): The Death of Rosemary?

  • Eli Drake comes out to kick things off. Drake says he has given Scott Steiner the night off cause Steiner had things to do. Drake then says he’s cashing in on his title shot and is giving Pentagon one more week to hold the championship. Pentagon is out next and has a stare down with Drake accepting the challenge for next week. 
  • McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with Kiera Hogan. Hogan says she wants her redemption tonight by beating Taya in a rematch. She is interrupted by Tessa Blanchard. Hogan tells Tessa to be at ring side tonight to watch her beat Taya. 
  • Grado and Joseph Park run into each other in the bank and begin to catch up. Grado tells Park he’s met a woman and goes on about his life. Austin Aries walks up and tells them Impact will back to normal soon after he wins back the Impact Championship 

Match #1: OVE defeats KM and Fallah Bahh

KM and Bahh are a very unlikely pairing but were able to bring a tough fight to OVE. Despite being short their leader Sami Callihan, The Crist Brothers were able to pull out the victory after Jake delivers a series of kicks to Bahh and then rolls him with a School Boy. 

  • McKenzie Mitchell is backstage with Moose. Moose says he’s Mr. Impact and that he is coming for that championship. Jimmy Jacobs interrupts and tells Moose that he wants him to meet his monster. Jacobs challenges Moose to take one Kongo Kong next week and Moose accepts. 

Match #2: Taya Valkyrie vs Kiera Hogan ends in a no contest

Kiera Hogan wanted her redemption by providing she can beat Taya. Kiera almost succeeded after she stomped Taya’s head directly into the steel steps. Tessa Blanchard makes her way to the ring before the ref could count Taya out and attacks Kiera. Tessa lays Kiera out with a modified DDT as the segment ends. 

Match #3: Brian Cage defeats Brody Marshal, Slex, and Mick Moretti

This match was brought to us from World Series Wrestling from Australia. This was a fun four way match. Every man in this match got a chance to shine but in the end, Brian Cage shined the brightest. Cage wins after hitting Slex with a Drill Claw. 

Match #4: DJZ, Andrew Everett, and Dezmond Xavier defeat El Fantasma, Drago, and Aerostar

This 6 man tag was slated as Lucha Rules so that gave it away that this would be absolutely exciting. This his was an all out spot fest with some of the craziest things you could ever want to see with exciting move after exciting move. Aerostar goes to the top to end DJZ and get the win but is attacked by Everett and then DJZ delivers a DDT to Aerostar from the top to get the win for his team.

  • Austin Aries approaches Eli Drake in the halls and wishes him luck in his title match next week and tells him he hopes he wins cause he knows he can beat him. 
  • KM is backstage with Fallah Bahh and is telling him he will make him cool but is interrupted by someone telling help and the camera pans over to someone knocked out with an X laying on them. 
  • Eddie Edwards is standing outside of the jail he was in on his phone when Tommy Dreamer pulls up and tells him to get in. 

Match #5: Matt Sydal (c) defeats Taiji Ishimori to retain the X-Division Championship

Since going on his own Sydal has been on a roll defending his X-Division Champion. Ishimori was hoping to regain the title tonight and have Sydal all he had to do so. Ishimori came up short after he goes to the top rope and Sydal jumps up and reverses whatever Ishimori has planned into his new innovative reversal that still has no name to get the win.  

  • Dreamer is backstage with Edwards talking to him about bailing him out of jail and tells Edwards that he beat Callihan and that he needs to move on but Edwards wouldn’t listen. 
  • Allie is backstage with Rosemary telling her she will be there for here tonight against Su but Rosemary tells her no, to promise her she won’t get involved.
  • LAX is in their clubhouse raving on about loosing everything and talks about their match next week against DJZ and Everett. 

Match #6: Rosemary vs Su Yung ends in a no contest 

This match came about when Rosemary saved Allie from the attacks of Su. This match never really gets going before these two just brawl on the outside. Su gives Rosemary a Panic Switch on the floor and the ref tries to get control but Su scares him away. Su’s army of undead brides come out with a coffin but Allie eventually comes out for the save. Su’s army gets ahold of Allie but then Rosemary fights back and goes after Su with the kendo stick. Su eventually gains control and delivers a Panic Switch to Rosemary off of the stage through a table. The show ends with Su and her army putting Rosemary into the coffin as Allie watches.  

Brandon is a life long wrestling fan and a die hard hardcore kid. Pro wrestling and hardcore music helped him find acceptance and gave him a place to be himself at. It's what has made him the passionate fan and person he his today.
