Impact Wrestling Recap (6.28.18): Rayne vs. Blanchard



Madison Rayne opens up the show talking about her return to Impact and her upcoming match with Su Yung at Slammiversary. Tessa Blanchard interrupts Rayne and tells her that it’s not 2011 anymore and that she is the best around here now. They both get cut off by Su Yung’s laugh and screams but Blanchard takes advantage of the mind games and attacks Rayne.

Match #1: Rich Swann defeats Trevor Lee

Rich Swann made his Impact debut tonight to a great crowd reaction. It was a treat to see that his first opponent was no other than Trevor Lee. Lee and Swann displayed a clinic of high octane offense. Rich Swann came away the victor after hitting Lee with a Phoenix Splash to get the win.

– Next, we are taken to PCW Ultra out of California where Sammi Callihan and OVE attacked Pentagon Jr after a cage match and rip Pentagons mask off of his face.

– Grado is backstage and is greeted by his girlfriend, Katarina, and she tells him that next week she has a match.

Match #2: Desi Hit Squad defeats Z&E

Another debut here as Desi Hit Squad finally made their way to impact. The team of Rohit Raju and Gursinder Singh managed by Gama Singh had a huge test ahead then having to face the former Tag Team Champions. Gama picked the right time to distract the ref so Gursinder could roll up Everett and grab the tights to steal a win.

– A video of Pentagon Jr issuing a challenge to Sami Callihan for Slammiversary in a hair vs mask match.

– We get an in-depth look at Moose’s story of all the hardships in his life and with football that lead him to wrestling.

– Next, we are taken to House Of Hardcore in Philly where Eddie Edwards attacks Tommy Dreamer in the middle of a match out of nowhere with a kendo stick. After the attack Edwards is walking out of the building as Moose follows him and tries to talk sense into Edwards but Edwards tells Moose to leave him alone.

– LAX is in their clubhouse with King. Konnan comes in and tells King that that he still thinks this all a coincidence. King storms off as Ortiz as Santana questions Konnan’s motives as Konnan tells them he has proof that King was behind his attack.

Match #3: Matt Sydal defeats Dezmond Xavier

Dezmond Xavier had a huge chance tonight to get his name back into the title picture with a match against X-Division Champion Matt Sydal. These two went all out in this match but it was Sydal who came out on top after taking advantage of Xavier’s hurt leg nailing Xavier with a Chemical Imbalance 2 to get the win. After the match. Cage comes out but is quickly attacked by Kongo Kong. Kong leaves Cage laying after hitting Cage with a huge Big Splash.

– A video of OVE is shown of Sami Callihan telling Pentagon that he accepts his challenge at Slammiversary.

– Austin Aries is backstage with a new backstage interviewer and is asked about Moose. Aries says that Moose’s story is nothing and that next he will tell his story that ends in victory unlike Mooses.

Match #4: Madison Rayne defeats Tessa Blanchard

This match was made after their interaction earlier in the night. Blanchard has been haunted by her loss to Rayne a few weeks ago and was hopping to get the win tonight. Rayne stopped Blanchard in her tracks she rolled her up to grab the win. After the match, Tessa goes to attack Rayne with a chair but is interrupted by Su Yung and her undead army. Yung orders her army to attack Rayne and then Yung goes for a Panic Swirch on Rayne but is interrupted by the return of Allie.

Brandon is a life long wrestling fan and a die hard hardcore kid. Pro wrestling and hardcore music helped him find acceptance and gave him a place to be himself at. It's what has made him the passionate fan and person he his today.
