Joshi superstar Io Shirai is set to leave Stardom for WWE according to a report from Tokyo Sports.
Stardom President, Rossi Ogawa, did not deny reports of Shirai leaving Stardom stating that he will explain the matter in “proper form in the near future.” Tokyo Sports believes that the Korakuen Hall show on June 17th will be Shirai’s farewell show after spending nearly 7 years with the promotion.
The 2-time World of Stardom and 2-time Wonder of Stardom Champion was previously set to head to WWE at this time last year before being passed on due to neck issues.
Shirai will join fellow Joshi talents Asuka (Kana) and Kairi Sane (Kairi Hojo) on WWE programming where she will look to add herself to this recent highly talented wave of Japanese female wrestlers to join the promotion.
Shirai dropped her Wonder of Stardom Championship to Momo Watanabe just days ago at Korakuen on the Stardom Gold Star show for Samurai! TV.
