New Ring of Honor World Champion crowned in Fairfax

A major title change took place tonight during Ring of Honor’s ‘Fairfax Excellence’ show just one night removed from their ‘Best in the World’ PPV.

A Ring of Honor World Championship match would see Dalton Castle defend his title against Cody, Jay Lethal and Matt Taven in a four-way that would end with Lethal pinning Castle to begin his 2nd reign as World Champ. His first reign was the 4th longest in company history at 427 days.

Castle has reportedly been dealing with multiple injuries during his world title run, which led many to believe that Cody would emerge victorious last night out of their ‘Best in the World’ main event. A win for Cody would’ve led to a Champion vs. Champion bout between him and NWA World Champion Nick Aldis at the upcoming Cody and Young Bucks financed ‘All In’ supershow in Chicago.

Castle’s title reign ends at just under 200 days. A replay of the show can been seen exclusively on Ring of Honor’s Honor Club streaming service. The match will also eventually air on ROH TV.
