New ROH World Champion crowned at Final Battle

In a bit of a shocker tonight in New York City, Dalton Castle defeated Cody in the main event of Final Batltle to become the 24th Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion since the title was first introduced in 2002.

Castle was able to gain pinfall on Cody after kicking out of his Cross Rhodes finisher and surviving a Disaster Kick from the now former champ before hitting his own finisher, the Bang-A-Rang, to make Rufio and the rest of the Lost Boys proud by becoming the new ROH World Champion.

The Boys and Brandi Rhodes were both ejected by referee Todd Sinclair early on in this one after Rhodes took out Boy 1 and Boy 2 with a spot off the top rope. From there, Castle would prove to be the better man on the night, busting the newly bleached blonde ‘Son of a Plumber’ open before pinning him fair and square to earn one of the most prestigious titles in professional wrestling today.

Unless he can earn the title back from Castle at the ROH tapings tomorrow in Philly, Cody will now take on Kota Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 12 sans the ROH World Championship. It’s unknown at this time if Castle will be added to the Tokyo Dome card.
