NJPW ‘Super Jr. Tag League 2018’ (10.29.18) Results & Review

Another night of no commentary with a hard camera setup. One match only as we inch our way towards the finals. Los Ingobernables de Japon take on Taguchi Japan in a win or go home situation for team Taguchi Japan. Let’s get started!

BUSHI & Shingo Takagi def. ACH & Ryusuke Taguchi @ 12:20 via Rebellion on ACH – **1/2
Naito surprises the crowd by coming out to corner his LIJ brothers. Shingo and Taguchi start with a shoulder tackle battle. Shingo wins the battle and catches Taguchi’s first hip attack but is put down with the second, allowing Taguchi the time to make the tag. ACH coaches Taguchi into a flurry of corner lariats before setting up on the second rope to await for Shingo. Instead, it’s Taguchi who runs into ACH’s butt and Shingo tags in BUSHI who chokes ACH with his shirt, hits a neckbreaker and tags back out. Shingo pie-faces ACH which earns him a chop in return but Shingo is happy to fire back, collapsing ACH and stands on top of him. BUSHI shoves Taguchi off the apron before he connects with a senton + legdrop double team alongside Shingo. ACH eats a corner forearm, sits out of a second and manages to tag out. Taguchi fires off a flurry of hip attacks, both members of LIJ bail but he follows them out with both a springboard plancha and tope con hilo before sending BUSHI back in where he hits the Boma Ye hip attack. BUSHI floats through the Dodon, lands the lungblower and both ACH and Shingo are tagged in. ACH takes Shingo down, sweeps the leg and stomps and then grounds BUSHI with a plancha on the outside. He comes back in and fires off a discuss lariat in the corner followed by a Frog Splash off the top. Both ACH and Taguchi deliver hip attacks and are successful with a facebuster combination but BUSHI breaks up the count, atomic drops Taguchi and sidesteps the second hip attack. LIJ ground ACH with a double team lungblower and BUSHI shoots through the ropes for a tope on Taguchi. ACH turns the Blood Fall into a cradle but Shingo kicks out, nails him with a Pumping Bomber and Blood Fall but ACH escapes. BUSHI comes back in and they finish ACH with Rebellion. Taguchi looks for an LIJ fist bump from Naito but is sent into the rails instead and that’s how we end the night.

This was a fun match considering the house show environment. Taguchi did some rare high-flying to keep the energy up which helped end his tournament on a positive note. I give this match the nod as the best of the hard camera section of the tournament so far. If you’ve watched all the other hard camera shows you’ll be pleased with this one and those who haven’t would still find this enjoyable. There are still two matches to go but only one of the four remaining teams still have a shot at advancing to the finals.
