NJPW ‘Super Jr. Tag League 2019’ (10.25.19) Results & Review

Published

on

Only one tournament match on the seventh night of the 2019 Super Junior Tag League. TJP & Clark Connors are looking for their first win as they take on the Birds of Prey. Let’s get started!

Birds of Prey (2-2) def. TJP & Clark Connors (0-4) @ 15:30 via Eagles Ron Miller Special on Connors – **
The match starts strong with Ospreay and TJP stunting on each other. They have a handful of nice interactions but a problem arises between Eagles and Connors. Despite Connors being the young lion, he spends the majority of the time on top of Eagles. I understand wanting the Ospreay hot tag and Eagles is strongest when selling from underneath, but not to a young lion. Connors is at his best with explosive comebacks and hopeful near falls, not grinding down someone who’s a class above him. I know they want Birds of Prey to be this underdog babyface team but not against a young lion, that’s too much.

Overall, the match didn’t quite work. Ospreay and TJP had a showcase and the Birds of Prey double teams were nice but the match layout was suspect and I think it was overall a miss.
