PROGRESS Chapter 58 ‘Live Your Best Life

November 26, 2017
Electric Ballroom
Camden Town, London

Match #1: Travis Banks (c) defeats Matt Riddle to retain the Progress World Championship

This was a great show opener. At Chapter 52, Travis Banks suffered a loss to Matt Riddle and it has haunted him since. Banks set out to erase that ghost and successfully defended his Championship after he locked in the Lions Clutch on Riddle to pick up the submission win.

Match #2 :Mark Haskins & Jimmy Havoc defeats M&M (Connor Mills and Maverick Mayhew)

This was a good match. Mills and Mayhew impressed Progress officials at Live At The Dome a couple of weeks ago and was granted a match on a Chapter show, unfortunate for them though it was a match against Haskins & Havoc. M&M put up a good fight but their valiant effort wasn’t enough to even phase Haskins & Havoc. Haskins & Havoc destroys Mayhew with the Kiss Of Death to pick up the win.

Match #3: Eddie Dennis defeats Jack Sexsmith via referee stoppage

This was a pretty good match. Since turning on Mark Andrews and ending F.S.U. Eddie Dennis has only had one thing in mind, making a statement in Progress. Dennis hits Sexsmith with 2 Next Stop Drivers but instead of pinning Sexsmith Dennis continues to attack him leaving Referee Chris Roberts with no choice but to stop the match.

  • After the match Dennis still continues to attack Sexsmith. Travis Banks runs out to make the save. Dennis escapes to the top of the ramp and gets on the mic and says that he’s been in Progress since chapter 6 and still hasn’t been granted a shot at the Progress Championship and tells Banks if he wants to fight him so bad then he has to put the Championship on the line.

Match #4: Jinny defeats Dahlia Black in a No DQ match to become the #1 contender for the Progress Women’s Championship

This was a great match. These former best friends have been at each other’s throats since the summer. They brawled all over the ballroom bringing tables, a kendo stick, and thumbtacks into play. Jinny puts away her former best friend after hitting Black with a Styles Clash onto a steel chair to get the win and to earn a shot at Toni Storm’s Championship.

Match #5: Timothy Thatcher defeats Strangler Davis to get a shot at the Atlas Championship

This was a short match but had some good storyline focus. The last time Davis and Thatcher faced off it ended in referee stoppage after Thatcher injured his eye. Davis earned a shot at the Atlas Championship a few Chapters ago defeating Rob Lynch and after the match taking his former London Riot partner out of action attacking Lynch. Davis was forced to have a rematch with Thatcher and to put that Atlas Championship shot on the line. Shortly after the match started some mysterious stage lights started going off and music started playing and Rob Lynch was standing at the top of stage distracting Davis. Thatcher rolls Davis up off of the distraction to get the win.

  • After the match Lynch and Davis brawl but is broken up by security. Lynch yells at the crowd that he’s back for good.

Match #6: Timothy Thatcher defeats Chris Ridgeway

Thatcher got on the mic after Davis and Lynch cleared the ring and demanded a match. Chris Ridgeway answered the challenge. Ridgeway defeated Damien Moser in a pre-show match and wanted to keep his momentum going by attempting to take out Thatcher. Thatcher picks up the submission victory after locking on the Fujiwara Arm Bar to Ridgeway forcing him to tap out.

Match #7: Joseph Connors defeats Flash Morgan Webster

This was a pretty good match. Joseph Connors was looking to pick up a win in his debut singles match in Progress. Morgan Webster has been on a losing streak lately and was hoping to put a stop to that streak with a win here. Connors puts away Webster with the Dont Look Down to pick up his first singles win in Progress.

Match #8: Toni Storm (c) defeats Alex Windsor to retain the Progress Women’s Championship

This was a really good match. Alex Windsor earned this match at Chapter 57 winning a 4 way #1 contenders match. Toni Storm has been having a very successful 2017 and looked to keep that momentum going here. Windsor wore Storm down getting a couple of near falls on her but Storm prevailed after connecting with the Strong Zero Pile Driver to Windsor to get the win and to retain her Championship.

Match #9: Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) defeats CCK (Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos) (c) to win the Progress Tag Team Championships

This was a great match. This match was supposed to happen at Chapter 56 but plans got changed due to Kid Lykos still being injured. Grizzled Young Vets finally got their shot and came into this looking to leave a mark on Progress. GYV took Kid Lykos out of the match leaving Brookes in there alone to defend the Championships. Brookes looked to of had the upper hand after throwing Gibson off the stage onto a pile of chairs but James Drake stopped Brookes In his tracks. GYV gets Brookes back into the ring and Gibson locks on the Shankly Gates forcing Brookes to tap out and The Grizzled Young Veterans are now the new Progress Tag Team Champions.
