PROGRESS Update: Pete Dunne off New York & Boston shows due to injury

WWE UK Champion and PROGRESS World Champion, Pete Dunne, has been deemed unable to compete at this weekend’s New York and Boston debut shows for the English promotion.

Dunne was busted open in a match with Darius Carter at a Battle Club Pro last night in Brooklyn that took 11 stitches to close up. Dunne was scheduled to defend his WWE UK Championship against Jack Gallagher in the main event of tonight’s PROGRESS show out of New York.

PROGRESS co-owner Jim Smallman released to following video on social media earlier today in regards to the situation:

This is an unfortunate blow to PROGRESS considering that Dunne is their World Champion and biggest star. That said, this is a promotion that doesn’t know how to have a bad show. You can fully expect something special to make up for Dunne’s absence considering their positive relationship with WWE.

A replacement opponent has not been announced for Gallagher at present time.
