ROH and NJPW’s G1 Supercard Sells Out MSG in Minutes

After selling 60% of tickets to Honor Club members on Wednesday, the G1 Supercard – an event featuring the stars of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling – has sold out in a matter of minutes. This makes the G1 Supercard the first non-WWE show to sell out Madison Square Garden, and it’s clear just how much this means to a lot of the stars of both NJPW and ROH.

Cary Silkin, Ring of Honor Ambassador said, ” WE DID IT!!! I want to thank all involved in the G1 Supercard at MSG selling out today!! You know who you are!! @ringofhonor @njpwworld” on Twitter, whilst Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks tweeted, “Congrats to @ringofhonor @njpw1972 for selling out the Garden! Wrestling is pretty hot right now would you agree?” It’s a monumental achievement, showing the popularity of wrestling that doesn’t just include Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment behemoth.

Taking place at Madison Square Garden the night before Wrestlemania on April 6 (which is happening at the Barclays Centre nearby), the G1 Supercard is going to be huge, and now we all get to look forward to the match announcements and speculation to whom may attend. Rumours are already flying around that we’ll see Chris Jericho perform, but at this point fans should bask in the positivity surrounding pro-wrestling. As Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks said, the game is changing. Buckle up.

Chris White loves to write, and is a huge fan of wrestling of all kinds. He supports the Boston Celtics, listens to hip hop, and wishes Ric Flair was his granddad. He's a pretty cool guy, just ask his mum.
