ROH ‘Death Before Dishonor XV’ event recap

Published

on

Ring of Honor brought another loaded card to Sin City for their 15th annual edition of Death Before Dishonor. Here’s how it all went down.

Major Takeaways

Two major title changes occurred on this show. First off, Kenny King topped Kushida to earn his first major ROH singles title by defeating Kushida. The second change took place when The Motor City Machine Guns began their first reign has ROH tag team champs by defeating The Young Bucks. Also of note, Jay Briscoe turned on Bully Ray, to the surprise of his brother Mark and a shocked Vegas crowd, by slamming his head into the edge of a table during their title match with The Bucks and Hangman Page bringing an early end to the contest.

Match of the Night

The Young Bucks and Motor City Machine Guns tore the roof off of Sam’s Town on Friday night. I’m not a huge fan of outside interference but The Addiction only added to this match in the end. It brought the two teams together for a brief moment and even gave us a great show of respect after the bell when The Bucks semi grudgingly gave up their straps.

Show MVP

Although I thought Cody came off like a rock star in his entrance and had some solid moments against Suzuki, the main event came off as very underwhelming with an unsatisfying finish to boot. The Machine Guns were the true stars of this show. If you only have time to watch one match on the show, this is the one.

What’s Next

It’s time for NJPW and ROH to hook up once again. This time it’ll be for a four-night Global Wars tour that runs from October 12-15 hitting Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Columbus and Illinois. No matches have been signed for the show just yet but it has been confirmed that NJPW US Champion Kenny Omega will be wrestling on all four shows.
