Former UFC superstar Ronda Rousey closed out tonight’s Royal Rumble event with quite the message for the WWE women’s division.
Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center erupted when Rousey’s music—she came out to Bad Reputation by Joan Jett, just like she did as a mixed martial artist— hit the loud speakers just moments after Asuka won the first Women’s Royal Rumble in WWE history. Rousey would point to the WrestleMania sign multiple times during her brief appearance, letting everyone know that she will be competing in New Orleans on April 8th.
Just as Asuka was about to decide on the WrestleMania title shot of her choice, Rousey would enter the ring and offer her hand, to which she would decline.
While it wasn’t made clear who Rousey will be facing at Mania, it would appear that she’ll be taking on the champion that Asuka does not decide to face. Both champions, RAW’s Alexa Bliss and SmackDown’s Charlotte Flair, were present in the ring when Rousey entered the ring.
Wrestling Observer is reporting, however, that the plan is to have Rousey compete in a mixed tag match at Mania against Stephanie McMahon and Triple H with The Rock as her partner. Rousey, who debuted a t-shirt that said ‘Hot Ronda’ stylized in Rowdy Roddy Piper’s old lettering, also offered her hand to Stephanie McMahon after leaving the ring. The former 6x defending UFC champion made national news when she hit a Judo throw on Stephanie and Triple H at WrestleMania 31 back in 2015 after being brought into the ring from the crowd by The Rock.
