WrestleMania 35 location rumors heat up; Detroit said to be frontrunner

Talk of a location for WrestleMania 35 is starting to heat up with an official announcement on the matter expected to be made before year’s end. All of the recent chatter began last week with the following series of tweets from @TicketDrew

Drew has been a reliable source of news over time, as has DeArron Easley, whose update on this news was posted on

80,103 fans attended Ford Field the last time WrestleMania came to Detroit back in 2007 for WrestleMania 23. Detroit has put billions of dollars into development projects since then, including the recently opened Little Caesars Arena, which cost 862.9 million. WWE officials were said to be impressed by the new arena when they brought their annual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view there earlier this month. The arena would likely be used for the NXT TakeOver show on the night before WrestleMania and the RAW and SmackDown shows that would follow.

Remember, this is just a rumor as of now. At this time last year, many thought that Minnesota would get WrestleMania 34 but as we know, that ended up going to New Orleans. Philadelphia, New York and Detroit are the three cities being discussed for the 2019 ‘Show of Shows’ according to the aforementioned sources and Detroit is the front runner.

UPDATE: WXYZ is reporting that Detroit did not submit a bid for WrestleMania 35 per the Detroit Sports Commission. Stay tuned for more updates as December nears.
