WrestleMania 35 pre-show quick picks

Published

on

The Greatest Spectacle in Sports Entertainment part thirty-five goes down today in East Rutherford, New Jersey and this 16 match (it may end up being more) offering could very well end up being the feel good show of the decade. Whether or not Vince McMahon sees it that way remains to be seen.

Here’s my Mania 35 picks, in quick and dirty fashion, full of speculation, not so educated guesses, tomfoolery and hot takes for the pre-show portion of the program.

Pre-Show (5 p.m. ET)

WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

Hopefully the powers that honor the wishes of X-Pac and rename this the Chyna Memorial Battle Royal.

Onto the pick. Lacey Evans hasn’t been prancing around every each and every town just for kicks over the past couple of months. Tonight’s her time to shine. It’ll be interesting to see how her push is handled and if she can break through in a women’s division that, while it could use some new blood, has become very much established over the past couple of years.

Winner: Lacey Evans

Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

This Battle Royal has become the epitome of “Sports Entertainment,” I have zero interest but I’m certainly not going to look away. I don’t know who these guys from SNL are and the Braun Strowman character has overrun its course in my opinion. I say give it to Otis (he’ll get his spots at least) but Braun likely wins. He adds his name to an incredible lineage that includes the likes of Mojo Rawley.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese

The first great singles match of the day could end up being one of the best matches of the show. No reason not to let Murphy’s reign continue. He’s been killing it as champ and I see no reason to make a change at this moment.

The Revival (c) vs. Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins (WWE RAW Tag Team Championship)

I’m touting this as the “feel good” WrestleMania? And if it is, why not have Hawkins’ 269 match losing streak end in a RAW tag team title match against one of the best tag teams of this decade. Why not have Hawkins get the pin via a roll up while we’re at it. Trust me, Ryder and Hawkins are more than responsible for moving a lot of Mattel products due to the success of their Major Wrestling Figure podcast. Putting those RAW tag titles on them (and immortalizing them with a 2-pack) would be the least you could do for these two.

Winners: Hawkins & Ryder
