Wrestling Resurgence Brings Spandex Ballet to Nottingham on September 8

On September 8, the renowned art gallery known as the Nottingham Contemporary will be hosting Spandex Ballet, a showcase of some of the most eccentric and wonderful British wrestlers in an action-packed evening for all ages. Wrestling Resurgence was established in 2017 with the sole goal of answering the question, what is professional wrestling in the modern day? Whilst many see it as either entertainment or sport – or both, the artistic creativity, fashion, and extravagant storytelling also plays a huge role in what it is today. Spandex Ballet intends to show you just why it embodies everything professional wrestling should be.

British wrestling has seen a huge rise in popularity over the last few years, especially through promotions such as ICW, Progress Wrestling, and EVOLVE. It’s huge rise to the forefront of professional wrestling hasn’t gone unrecognised, and Wrestling Resurgence aim to showcase the best of it through these live shows in art galleries, publications, as well as unique post-show Q&As.

There has already been two sold out shows which were fully funded at the Attenborough Arts Centre, featuring some of the biggest names in British professional wrestling such as Dave Mastiff and Flash Morgan Webster. Speaking of big stars, Spandex Ballet is set to feature the rising star of women’s British wrestling Millie McKenzie, the ‘Golden Godess’ Chakara, Nottingham’s own Joseph Conners, and current WOS Championship contender Gabriel Kidd.

Spandex Ballet will kick off from 7pm on September 8 at the Nottingham Contemporary, and you can buy your tickets right here.

Chris White loves to write, and is a huge fan of wrestling of all kinds. He supports the Boston Celtics, listens to hip hop, and wishes Ric Flair was his granddad. He's a pretty cool guy, just ask his mum.
