Bobby ‘The Brain’ Heenan has passed away today, Sunday, September 17th of 2017. Heenan was considered by many as the greatest manager and greatest color commentator in professional wrestling history.

Jim Ross was the first to break the news of Heenan’s passing via social media today.

The news of Bobby “The Brain” Heenan’s passing today gutted me. I loved our time together. No one ever did it better than the Wease.

Like many pro wrestling fans, my first introduction to this world that still plays a huge part in my life today began as a small child in the 1980’s watching the Federation on television. One of the first memories I remember was seeing Heenan inside of that ring cart wearing a beautiful white suit with gold trim, escorting Andre the Giant to his WrestleMania III match against Hulk Hogan. I thought to myself, what could this man have possibly done to get the 93,000 plus in attendance to hurl trash at him. It turned out he was just doing is job. And he did it oh so well.

Whether he was running around the apron or sitting behind the desk, no one did a better job than ‘The Weasel’ at putting over wrestlers with his sharp tongue and quick wit. Heenan captured our attention for years and his work will continue to make us humanoids laugh, cry and shake our heads in disgust—just like he would have wanted.

Dave has been covering Pro Wrestling and Mixed Martial Arts for various websites since 2010. He currently runs both FightBooth and FightBoothPW with the help of some lovely and talented people.
